Chapter 132: The Beast of the East
This wasn’t how it was planned out in the first place. Experienced human raiders would think this to be ludicrous, for us to be in the middle of a tug-o-war with a giant Beast. However, if there were ways for the humans to go at it, so were too for Green Skins.
Although not very intelligent or agile, this was one of the methods to utilize the overpowering Ogres and half-Ogres.
As expected, the Beast of the East kept screaming. However, they would not let up. Having found their places, the Ogres would never back down.
The sorcerers of the Black Spear Clan kept injecting magic to keep the ropes intact. The tight ropes kept a hold of the bastard.
The ground on which the countless Ogres and half-Ogres stood, has already begun to sink. The b.a.s.t.a.r.d was getting pulled. In fact, it would be a great advantage if we could maintain the situation because the distant attackers, including Mev and Black Spear, were now targeting the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s feet. However, this maneuver wasn’t being executed for such limited dividends.
The sounds of drums reverberated. In concert with the percussion, Goff Clan began to yell as if they were cheering at a ridiculous sporting event.
“Goff Clan does not lose!”
The Ogres’ muscles bulged. One by one, each of the magically buffed lock-down team began to shout.
Along with the red eyes and the bulging muscles, blood ran from their hands as they grasped their ropes.
The Ogres were shouting the same thing, repeating what that one Orc had shouted.
The Beast of the East, too, was trying to pull back while shouting, but the b.a.s.t.a.r.d was losing. Continuous attacks have degraded both the Beast’s stamina and health, but the Hydra was resisting vigorously, determined not to lose.
In other words, this was a fight for pride. Neither side will let up. Then Goff took the position at the forefront, and he, too, began to pull on the rope.
“The chief has joined!”
“The chief has joined!”
Perhaps, this was the most exciting situation of all.
An impossible situation was taking place, the Beast was losing this tug-o-war. Seeing such an event occurring, I shouted at the swordsmen of the Blood Dagger Clan.
“He’s falling! Ready for battle!”
“He’s falling! . . . Get ready for battle! . . . Victory! . . . Only for victory! . . . For Blood Dagger!”
The b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s body began to tilt in time with their shouts. That bastard’s enormous body was, finally, coming down. It was truly a scene to behold: the heavens had come down to earth. This was truly the most precious scene among all the scenes that I’ve witnessed for over 10 years in the continent.
With the cheering scream of the Goff Clan, there came a ground-shaking noise, and rising dust filled the vicinity. However, there was no time to waste for we had to take full advantage of the situation before the b.a.s.t.a.r.d could recollect himself and find his balance again.
“Victory! Only for victory! For Blood Dagger!”
The Ogres kept the ropes staked to the ground by continuously injecting magic, and kept restricting the bastard’s movements. It was same for Jung Hayeon. Even though the roots that popped out of the ground could not completely restrain the Beast of the East, they were definitely tying him up.
Right then, the swordsmen of the Blood Dagger Clan and the assassins mounted the b.a.s.t.a.r.d. Rushing forward with Gark and Hark in the middle, they were wielding their swords as they charged.
Especially, having pierced his long sword into the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s body, Gark kept running with part of the sword buried deep. Hark was also running forward with two swords pierced into the bastard. I was doing the same as well. Everything that came into my view was a target. As I kept cutting the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s body while continuously changing out weapons, blood poured out of the Beast of the East’s body. Black Spear Clan kept aiming their spears and spells at the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s necks. Black Spear, too, saw that now was the perfect opportunity.
The training has begun to come to fruition. As the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s cries became louder, the tribes’ attacks became more intense. The small wounds began to open up, and the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s body has been covered with blood.
It was then.
The b.a.s.t.a.r.d began to rise slowly. To be precise, he didn’t exactly rise up. It was that as he thrashed, and as a result, Jung Hayeon’s roots were beginning to break apart, one by one.
“This…This is the limit.”
Jung Hayeon was shouting, and I, too, was looking at the b.a.s.t.a.r.d as it slowly rose up. Now that the recent tug-o-war has completely reset the Beast’s attention, it was time to reap this phase’s last rewards. Maybe Goff, among the three main tanks, could regain agro, but it was doubtful that Orbo or Gara could.
“Don’t let up!”
“Restrain the Beast of the East!”
The Ogres began to shout again, but the b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s pain-filled struggles caused them to lose their grips on the rope, one by one. At this rate, the b.a.s.t.a.r.d would soon regain his feet and all this hard work would go to waste unless one of the Beast’s heads was cut off.
The b.a.s.t.a.r.d’s neck, which the Black Spear Clan has focused on attacking, hovered into my view. It appeared quite loose. Wordlessly, I ran towards Goff. As if he has understood what I was going to do, he raised his shield as a spring board. It was at the moment that my foot touched Goff’s shield.
