Helping With Adventurer Party Management
Chapter 6 Creating A Support Team
Episode 65 A Complicated World
Looking at the to-do list I was making previously, I realized that there was another big problem.
Whatever I should do with the shoemaker guild?
The shoemaker guild was a group of craftsmen who individually manufacture shoes.
Most shoemakers created fashionable leather shoes for townsfolk and nobles of the second-class district and above; the so-called mid-upper class would wear fancy shoes to stroll on the streets in town or go to a ball. There would be no conflict of interest in the business since there was a way of purchasing raw materials from the craftsmen.
However, I would not want them to invade my territory, which could hinder the production of the shoes.
To prevent this from happening, I was thinking of an arrangement to have the scary Jilboa and his men go to their workshops and take care of any potential obstacles, though I did not like the idea of confronting problems with violence.
Besides, I had no intention to smash the shops of those old shoemakers in the third-class district.
I wanted them to play two important roles in supporting the launch of my shoe production business that would sell at a low price, affordable for novice adventurers.
Firstly, I wanted them to help in the production of the shoes for adventurers.
I was planning to create shoes for adventurers with a thorough assembly line.
It would be expected that shoemakers who had been accustomed to the conventional method of making everything by themselves, would have a great deal of objection due to the desire to make more money. So I thought it would be better to recruit applicants from craftsmen of the third-class district, who would likely be willing to work at relatively low wages.
Secondly, I would open a conventional shoe shop, and have them help with the after-sales service provided.
While planning to establish a business that sells shoes for adventurers, it would be necessary to sell the shoes at a high price at the beginning.
I could sell about 100 pairs of shoes at a low price all by myself as a start, but profit sharing for stakeholders could be a potential problem when a business had been established.
The stakeholders would demand their share of the profit.
In other words, it would be necessary to include a protection fee in the price.
As such, the shoes would turn into luxury items since the price would go up.
Only by raising the price, the business could make profit stable enough to share the benefits to the stakeholders.
If this were the case, the market would have to be pumped full of high-priced adventurer shoes first before I could produce popular items for novice adventurers.
The sale of low-priced shoes would definitely receive opposition from stakeholders, because they would not have a reason to reduce their own profits by lowering the listed price.
Nevertheless, my main target was to create low-priced shoes for novice adventurers.
There were two probable methods to accomplish this.
Both methods would have to improve the sales market for inferior goods and second-hand products.
The first method was to sell defective shoes which were scratched during the manufacturing process and could not be sold at a normal price. These goods should be sold at a discounted price.
In the modern world, there were also commercial laws that could be damaging to brand value.
But for right now, that information was exclusive to me.
The other method was to improve the market for second-hand goods.
The shoes that I planned to manufacture would be expensive and sturdy, but some people considered them as consumable goods.
That was the reason why Sword Fang Corps said that they would order 100 pairs immediately.
In that case, I shall collect the damaged shoes, repair them, and sell them at a low price.
I would like to outsource the repair and the after-sales service to the shoemakers owned by the gramps in the third-class district.
If I picked up the damaged shoes, I could gather information regarding where and how they were damaged, which would lead to the improvement of future shoe productions.
Comparing the two methods, the idea of improving the second-hand market seemed to be better, and so I decided to use this method as a negotiation term with the shoemaker guild.
Even so, it was tiring.
I just wanted to sell good shoes at a cheap price for novice adventurers, but the world became more and more complicated.
