Law of the Devil Chapter 308 Part 2. Chapter split into three(3) pages

JoJo was going to say something more, but Rodriguez only smiled and pulled on her sleeve, before pulling her along with him as he walked away, no longer willing to argue with Cybuster. The elder guard Old Yan glanced at Cybuster, but said nothing and followed along.

Du Wei couldn’t help but feel conflicted. Finally he was seeing some of her strong companions show up on the scene–it was a rare chance for escape! But even so, he was fearful of White River’s strength. If it came to fighting, all of his people might not even be enough for this one weirdo. But if he just let the chance go…that would be more frustrating than he could say!

The thought that this guy was going to take him up the snow mountain and…peel his soul away? Was that something to joke about?

His mind spun quickly, yet he was already secretly prepared. Sitting there, his hand went into his sleeve.

Sure enough, after Rodriguez and his bunch walked in, the hotel’s hall wasn’t big, but there was ample light. Plus, anyone who was a warrior would always subconsciously look through their environment. Rodriguez and his companions immediately spotted Du Wei sitting in the corner. They were all surprised, not expecting to meet a duke here.

Du Wei’s expression, on the other hand, was quite odd. He coughed, but before he could speak, White River had already smiled and said in a low voice, “Hm, these people, you know all of them, don’t you…that one is Rodriguez? Hm. That’s him? Your subordinate?”

As he spoke, his eyes flashed with mockery.

When JoJo saw Du Wei, she cried out loudly, “What? Why are you here?”

She walked on over without even looking at White River and sat next to Du Wei, her tone more than a little displeased, “Du Wei! You didn’t even think to talk to me you got engaged to my sister? You didn’t even invite me to the ceremony? What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

An awkward smile on his face, Du Wei flashed a look at JoJo. Unfortunately, his violent female companion refused to read into his expressions and only got angrier. “Why aren’t you speaking to me? What the hell are you doing, rolling your eyes like that at me!”

She slammed her palm down towards the table, hard.

Although she wasn’t much of a warrior, she was still a seven or eight level fighter in terms of strength. If she had actually made contact with the table, it would be a goner by now. But JoJo felt that as her hand pressed downwards, an icy frost pricked her palm, almost shooting through her hand, numbing her whole arm.

In shock, she drew back her arm and stepped back, her eyes landing on White River. “You…” Taking a deep breath, she glanced at Du Wei and snapped, “Is this person also your subordinate? When the hell did you get such a good fighter! Hey! What a guy. I’m trying to talk to your duke, and you have to interfere?”

White River wasn’t going to get mad over something like this. He looked up at Joanna and said softly, “I’m eating. I don’t like it when someone interrupts my meal.”

JoJo had always been a proud, fiery-tempered person. Hearing his words only made her angrier, “Hmph! You don’t like people interrupting? Try and stop me, then!”

Already she had pulled out her flute. A silver battle aura swirled around it. Waving it, she brought it down on the table.

How could Du Wei have the time to stop her?

A sliver of light seemed to flash through White River’s eye, and JoJo cried out in pain. Her flute hadn’t even reached the table when a tremble ran through her body and she flew backwards. With a clunky sound, her flute was also missing a piece.

She flew out quickly, yet she also seemed to be frozen in place in the air, unable to move. A slight bit of shock flashed through Rodriguez’s eyes as he suddenly took a step up, extending his left hand. Seeing JoJo fly out towards him, he grabbed the corner of her clothes and spun her around in the air before gently lowering her to the ground.

After she landed, JoJo felt a sudden weakness in her legs. Before she even stabbed the table with her flute, a harsh, cold air had broken through her battle aura and shot up her wrist, freezing her through and through! She landed on the ground, feeling chills through her body as her teeth chattered together. But she was proud and unwilling to look weak in front of others, so she clamped her jaw shut, preventing any noise from coming out. Even so, her eyes were full of shock and anger as she glared at White River.

Rodriguez’s power was levels above JoJo, so his gaze was much different.

Even so, JoJo was also quite strong. Being beaten back immediately after attacking like that, without even being able to see the enemy’s moves…

Rodriguez wore a serious expression. He was experienced, of course, and he had been wandering all his life. Seeing the helplessness in Du Wei’s eyes, he had already made a guess at the situation, and slowly walked up. Eyes fixed on White River, he said slowly, “May I ask who you are?”

When White River returned his gaze, there was for once admiration in his eyes. But he didn’t respond and turned to Du Wei instead, “What do you say? Are you going to try and see if you can escape now?”

Du Wei chuckled, “I hope you understand that the chance presents itself. Plus, I haven’t had enough of life by a long shot. I’m not desperate enough to want to experience getting my soul peeled away from me.”

White River laughed, but didn’t seem angry, “Good, good. You are my captive, so it’s natural that you think of escaping. It’s only natural, especially when given a chance to. All right. Since you’ve been good along the way, I will give you a chance. If I don’t let you try, you’ll never give up.”

Du Wei laughed as well and stood up, bowing to White River, “Thanks, then!”

After that, he turned to Rodriguez and the others, “Stop staring. I’ve been snatched as a hostage. He’s not my friend, and I’m not his companion.”

Rodriguez took a deep breath. His gaze melted into an eerie silver.

White River looked at him, “You are Rodriguez? Good. You haven’t disappointed me. Attack me at full strength. That way you won’t regret getting killed by me later.”

Rodriguez kept his gaze fixed on him, then suddenly spoke with a strange tone, “If I may ask…would your name happen to be White…”

White River laughed out loud. “Looks like your mentor mentioned me to you. Yes. That’s me.”

The expression on Rodriguez’s face became more serious than ever. He didn’t speak any more, but waved his sleeve, grabbing at the air with his right hand. In his palm a ball of frost aura formed, sharpening into a few ice spears that streaked towards White River.

White River sat there, unmoving, but smiled as he extended his left hand’s thumb and index finger and flicked at the incoming ice. In that moment, time and space seemed to have been slowed down! Everyone could see the iciness emerging from his fingertips, rippling through the air…

This was followed by buzzing. Rodriguez’s ice weapons shattered, one by one. Instead of stopping to wonder, Rodriguez slashed through the air with his right palm. A silver wisp of light appeared in front of it. It didn’t look threatening, yet the admiration in White River’s eyes only increased, the corners of his lips lifting. “Not bad!”

He still remained seated, this time extending his thumb and index finger to rub them together. A spark ignited at his fingertips! It spread along the silver fiber and consumed them. The fire flickered, leapt, and the silver light faded into nothing.

“Knowing how to gather your power into a string is already very impressive,” White River sighed, “A pity–if you want to be my opponent, that won’t be enough.”

Rodriguez took a deep breath, then suddenly took a few steps back, waving his hand. As it moved through the air, a huge silver blade formed! Emitting matchless cold, it whistled through the air towards White River. Just in that single moment, the whole hotel lobby was suddenly much, much colder.

This blade, however, was different. When it shot out, it shimmered in the air, then disappeared.

The next moment, it was right in front of White River!

Watching this made Du Wei gasp in awe. He had heard that strong warriors could achieve instantaneous movement, yet had never seen it done with launched aura!

“Hm?” White River finally extended his whole hand in front of him. The air seemed cut open by his hand, revealing a crack, that the blade was then sucked into. The next moment, it appeared behind him, shooting into the wall behind him, freezing the wall into ice!

Rodriguez’s face contorted, while White River just nodded again, “Good, good. You’ve almost reached peak control over this dimensional power and its principles. Just for that, you have shown more potential than your mentor. Even so…you haven’t yet learned how to break those rules. If you had, perhaps you would be able to field a battle with me.”

He smiled. “Look.”

His finger swiped through the air, tracing a thin mark in the very air itself. The mark then extended, extended in the direction Rodriguez’s aura had launched…

Then, seven or eight meters behind Rodriguez, the wall collapsed!

It fell with a rumbling sound, bringing down half the hotel’s roof. Several guests who had been waiting in the lobby had already seen that a fight was going on here and fled. Now that the lobby was collapsing, there were several cries of surprise from behind the counter.

Cold sweat broke out over Rodriguez’s body. With his current power, he couldn’t even tell what White River had done!

“Surprised?” White River’s voice sounded calm, “With your current level, you have a good grasp over this dimension’s strength principles, without knowing how to destroy them and construct your own rules! In other words, ripping through space!”

Smiling, he extended his fingers again into the cup of wine before him, then made a few marks on the table before him with his calm demeanor.

He had quite the talent for art. Within just a few strokes, a picture emerged on the table of people standing or sitting–it was an image of the room right now.

“This world, this space, is just like this picture,” he said softly, “You and I are both people in this picture. You can understand all the rules of the picture, and are already at the pinnacle of the picture’s existence…it’s just a pity that you can’t yet walk out of it! All in all, you still belong to the painting.”

He flashed a casual smile. “But no matter how strong you are, you are only so strong in the picture. Although you know the rules of this picture, the best you can do is use them to the best of your abilities…but if you meet a strong opponent, like me…”

Saying this, he extended his fingers once more and stroked another line into the table. Immediately a crack appeared on the table–the table split into halves!

Still smiling, White River continued, “See…even the picture has been split up! But you, you’re just a person in the picture. If even the picture has become two halves, then all the people and items inside will also be split open! The move I used just now isn’t just inside this space, but was cutting through the space! When the space is broken, the things inside naturally break as well.” After he said this, he looked at Rodriguez. “Do you understand?”
