My Glasses
Chapter 173 – Glasses boy encounters Lisse’s old friends
Oh? Lisse is being hit on.
After getting my knife and the harpoons at old man Tatsunami’s store, I returned to the place where I parted with Lisse earlier, and I could now see her chatting with two boys around our age.
And oh my? Even though Lisse didn’t seem to be particularly interested in romance or in being hit on, she seemed to be quite happy, and the two boys seemed to be enjoying this too.
Both parties are truly emanating a very good feeling, so… Has spring come to Lisse?
Well then, let’s not bother her too much.
“Thank you for waiting. I’ll be leaving as soon as I get my skewers, so please don’t mind me and continue what you were doing.” I told her.
Lisse had already finished the errand I had asked of her, which was to buy the Demon Pig skewers for me.
I didn’t want to disturb the three of them, but I had to collect those, as I had already paid for these skewers.
“Ah, Ei-
“You’re finally here.” Lisse said.
It seems like she was so happy with those boys that she didn’t even notice me approaching… That was quite unusual for Lisse.
And she almost called out my name just now. Also a rare mistake for Lisse.
“These are the friends I told you about earlier. The ones I had promised to meet up with.” Lisse told me.
Oh?
Her words were not what I was expecting, so it took me a moment to understand their meaning, but… I get it now. Those two are Lisse’s old friends who she had promised to meet up with at the Tower of Bryne.
And well, even Lisse would feel happy if she met up with her old friends.
So, those two are also assassin trainees that are connected to the Tower of Bryne… Things make more sense now.
It really was strange for Lisse to enjoy being hit on, as she seems to dislike flirtatious men and frivolous people
I didn’t want them to start talking to me, so I had tried to not make eye contact with those two, but now I got a bit curious, so I quickly glanced at them.
One was a boy who had a rough expression that reminded me of Chace. He was only a bit taller than me, so he was on the smaller end as far as size went. And he had a sword on his waist.
As for the other one… Oh, he was quite cool.
He had smooth, bright blond hair and cold eyes colored somewhere between blue and green. His features were impeccable, and he was tall enough to look like a prince straight out of a fairy tale.
In fact, he also gave off the feeling of aristocracy, so he felt quite different from a commoner like me. His clothes were also neat and of high quality, which added up to the nobility feeling.
Also, while I couldn’t see the Gifts of those two, I could tell that they were strong just by their presence alone.
The prince-like guy is particularly strong. He might even be stronger than Lisse, in fact.
I don’t know what weapon he uses, but he probably fights in close quarters combat.
Well, that was about it for my assessment of them.
“Got it. Well then, take your time. I’ll just get my skewers and be on my way.” I told Lisse.
Even if they are Lisse’s friends, all that I have in common with them is that we’ll meet up later at the Tower of Bryne, so I don’t particularly care about them.
“Wait, hold on. Let me introduce you.” Lisse stopped me from leaving just as I took the skewers from her hand.
“There’s no need to. We’ll have an opportunity to meet up again soon.
“Besides, if I stay here, I’ll just get in the way.” I replied.
“No, you’re wrong. Look, it seems like those two will be attending the hunting festival.” Lisse told me.
Is that so?
Well, that’s not a problem though? Even if we end up competing against each other, we still don’t need to talk right now.
“So, I was invited.” Lisse said.
“You were invited?” I asked.
“Invited to be a member of their team in the hunting festival.” She clarified.
Oh, I see, I see.
The hunting festival has a scoring system that allows you to participate on a team. You increase your fighting power by having more people in your group, but you get less points the larger your party is.
Therefore, increasing your team size isn’t necessarily an advantage.
However, inviting Lisse to one’s group is about as much of a right decision as it can be.
After all, the Shadow Hunter gift is great for hunting Demon Beasts. She will surely make things much easier and safer for any team that she is in.
“But I had been wondering if I could go with you instead.” Lisse stated.
Huh? With me? She had been thinking about that?
… Well, Demon Beasts are strong alright, and it’s true that one generally shouldn’t even think about hunting one by themselves as it is too dangerous. You put your life at risk by doing that.
And me and Lisse have hunted together many times while we were at the assassins’ village, so we know how to work together smoothly. Lisse doesn’t get in the way of my movements, and I don’t get in the way of hers either.
So, if I thought that I definitely had to recruit someone, Lisse would surely be one of the best possible candidates.
However… I don’t want to.
“You can team up with them if you want. I was originally planning on doing this by myself anyways.” I told her.
That’s what I decided on as soon as I heard the rules of the event.
Otherwise, I would have asked Cherry and Florentine for help, who I know that are at the orphanage and that I had contacted before.
At the end of the day, I had not planned on meeting up with Lisse today, so I never had any intention of counting on her when I didn’t even know that she would be available to help.
Even if she ambushed me when I left the brothel’s district, as far as I’m concerned, meeting Lisse today was a complete coincidence.
“Hey, don’t be like that. Not only do you have no chance of winning by yourself, but you may also die there. Don’t underestimate Demon Beasts.” The boy with a rough expression chimed in.
It seems like I stayed here for too long. I had planned on leaving as soon as I collected the skewers, after all.
So… “Ah, yeah, sure, then please excuse me.” I dashed away before the conversation took a complicated turn.
Lisse tried to say something, but I ignored her as I ran away.
