My Glasses
Chapter 183 – Glasses boy and the hunting festival – part five
(Third person narration)
It was only after midnight that the plaza calmed down.
No matter how much money they can make while working at night, even the people running food stalls cannot do business if they have nothing to sell, after all. They eventually had to leave their stalls for a while to purchase and prepare more food.
The singing had also been temporarily stopped, but the music was still going on even now.
The gentle sound of a harp continued to resound around the plaza to ease and comfort the drunk people who had fallen asleep.
The only team that was still working to its full capacity was the recovery team, as they needed to be on standby so as to be able to immediately move in case a hunter needed them. It was hard for them to be working while everyone was playing though.
Regardless of that, once dawn broke, those who had drunk to their heart’s content in the previous day decided to start the day with a welcoming drink too, and before long the plaza was as crowded as in the previous day.
Normally, it would be a bit more expensive to buy food at stalls instead of elsewhere, but that was not the case in this festival. In Krozheit’s hunting festival, the food and drinks were a bit cheaper than normal as the organizers were financing the stalls.
Because of that, even those that didn’t have much money to spare could still eat and drink in this festival.
Essentially, the organizers decided to focus on selling as much product to as many people as possible, even if the profit margin was small.
That said, today’s audience was a bit different than yesterday’s.
A small number of people from the slums have joined in the festival, replacing the people that drunk way too much on the previous day and were unable to participate today.
And after looking at yesterday’s situation, the organizers decided that, for as long as the place was crowded enough, nobody would complain if some people from the slums were mixed in.
The main problem, for an event, caused by people from the slums is that they don’t look very good. Their appearance makes people easily assume that they don’t have any money, and essentially lowers the overall appeal of the festival for the paying customers.
But things were different today.
Not only were the food and drinks cheap, but Zett’s comrades had spread the money that they stole from Beckenberg to the people in the slums.
This was one way that they decided on to give a part of the stolen money back to Beckenberg, as they understood that they had stolen too much.
After all, any money spent in this festival will end up benefitting Beckenberg in one way or another.

“Remember to not leave your big brothers and big sisters, okay?” I told the children.
“Okay!” They replied.
Since a festival was going on, the orphanage’s children were also going out to play.
So, me, the girl with glasses and the Taboo Child worked together to come up with a plan to let the children go around safely.
Which basically consisted of getting the help of a few extra caretakers. Specifically, a girl with a sword, a blue-haired young man, a boy with scary eyes, and a cat therianthrope girl.
It was a simple and robust system that allowed each individual group to deal with any incidents as they arose.
That said, we made an unanimous decision to exclude the seemingly perfect prince-like guy from all groups, as he was deemed a bad influence on the children.
It would be impossible for all these people to move together as a group though, so each caretaker was assigned two to three children to take care of and play with separately.
The Taboo Child was also classified as a child for the sake of this organization. She seemed to be dissatisfied with that, but this decision too, was unanimous.
“What about you? Aren’t you going?” I asked the girl next to me who was not wearing a maid outfit today.
“All I’d do would be buying skewers.” That person replied.
And well, she isn’t really a girl. That’s a boy who is dressed as a girl. He is a new face who came to the orphanage just yesterday.
He is ‘the maid who hunted a Dragon Fish’, so he was quite famous right now.
Therefore, it’s understandable that he doesn’t want to get too close to the plaza, as people would raise a big fuss if they recognized him.
“What about you, Hydra? I already saw a bit of the festival yesterday in the first place, so I don’t feel like going, but you should make use of the chance.” He asked me.
I’m in charge of keeping things safe.
This is the starting point of the children’s trip, and also a meeting place that they can return to in case something happens. I will not move from here and will just wait for the children instead.
The children were told that if they got lost, they should come back here. And if any problem that their caretakers couldn’t handle arose, they should immediately come here and contact me.
“The only thing that interests me in the festival are the Demon Beasts.” I replied.
Last night, Eil, a boy dressed as a girl, visited the orphanage and asked me directly about the thing we had only vaguely talked about.
‘This is the entrance to the Tower of Bryne, isn’t it?’ He asked me.
My orders were to always answer this question with a single phrase, ‘How did you know?’ and then officially admit that I too am an assassin trainee who came to the Tower of Bryne.
However, it seems like Eil received an assignment from his instructor, so he cannot enter the Tower of Bryne until all his friends get there.
Due to that, he hasn’t officially entered the tower, but… Well, he’s essentially at its doorstep.
“Then why don’t you go see them? I’ll be here in your stead.” He suggested.
“It’s unnecessary. I’ll be able to see them when they’re put up on the podium anyways, so I have no need to move.” I replied.
Both me and Eil are fairly calm people, and we seem to be getting along surprisingly well.
“Besides, if we’re both here, we can take our time talking.
“In fact, I’d like to hear about your hunt of the Dragon Fish. For as long as it’s within the limits of what you can talk about, of course.” I told him.
“I’m sorry, but that’s not within the limits of what I can talk about.” He replied.
The reason why we didn’t need to say too much, wass because we both have a tacit understanding that this was related to his Gift.
I’m sure that Eil used his Gift in the hunt, and Eil also understands that ‘within the limits of what you can talk about’ is referring to his Gift.
“Isn’t there anything you can tell me? It would be helpful to have something to reference in case I ever need to hunt a Dragon Fish myself.” I decided to press it just a bit.
“Something to use as reference… I wonder if there is anything I can tell you…” Eil wondered out loud as he seemed to start thinking about yesterday’s hunt.
