My Glasses Will Be Able to Conquer the Whole World, I Suppose

Chapter 198 – Glasses Boy Arrives at the Tower of Bryne

In a room deep within the orphanage.

Passing through a hidden door from a cluttered storeroom resembling a warehouse, they arrived at the end of a dark corridor.

The room was filled only with a large magic circle spread across the entire floor.

Significant magic circles adorned the walls, the ceiling, and even the door through which they had just entered.

Cherry’s magic circle emitted a faint green light, contrasting with the pale red light emitted by this one, it exudes a somewhat dangerous aura.

Well, considering that Chace is constantly coming and going, I doubt there’s anything dangerous.

“We’re heading to the Tower of Bryne from here.”

Hydra, who had been guiding me and Lisse, began to explain.

“There are two important points to remember.

First, when leaving this room, always make sure that the door is closed. While it does close automatically, if something gets caught and prevents the door from closing properly, it may not function properly.

In short, when you open the door, the magic circle disconnects and stops working. It functions only when the door is closed. So, always make sure it’s closed before proceeding.

Secondly, once the door is closed, promptly position yourself in the center of the magic circle. The destination we’re heading to operates on the same principle. However, if someone else attempts to use the magic circle simultaneously, as a safety precaution, both parties should stand in the center, and a switch teleportation will take place. Well, I believe there’s no need to worry as long as you’re using it correctly.

In summary, when using it, close the door and stand in the center of the magic circle. Also, make sure the door is closed before you start using it. As long as you pay attention to these two points, it’ll be fine.”

I understand.

By sealing it, you activate it. If you’re going to use it, do so promptly, without hesitation, or something along those lines, I suppose.

“Well then, let’s give it a try. It’s a bit cramped, but three people can use it simultaneously.”

With that, Hydra closed the door.

As it closed, the broken lines of the magic circle reconnected, emitting a red light.

Feeling a sense of unease in the space surrounded by the red light, we followed Hydra’s instructions and stood in the center of the magic circle, in the blank space drawn by the lines.

“Let’s go.”

Lisse and I stood shoulder to shoulder, surrounded by the crimson glow, while Hydra, also immersed in the red light, stepped into the center— and suddenly, the world twisted.

A wave of dizziness hit me, prompting me to shut my eyes tightly. But when I reopened them, the sensation was gone.

“We’ve arrived.”

“Huh?”

Neither Lisse nor I appeared to have sensed anything.

Without any sensation of something happening,  it felt as though we remained in the same spot as the room we had entered. It was as if I had merely closed my eyes for a moment.

This place was also a room encircled by a red magic circle. But despite its unchanged appearance…

It appeared that we had arrived safely.

This became apparent as soon as Hydra opened the door, there was no alternate world awaiting us on the other side…

It became clear that the transfer destination was also within a basement, as the door revealed only a stone passageway.

It was a bit anticlimactic, but the realization came quickly.

“Wow…”

In terms of sensation, it was when we left the room with the magic circle, walked a bit down the corridor, and realized it was a different place because there was a staircase we hadn’t seen in the orphanage.

…The area beyond the staircase was undeniably a different world.

It wasn’t the Kingdom of Nastiala, nor was it Krozheit. It was a landscape entirely unfamiliar to me.

Although the color of the sky was the same, unfamiliar mountains could be seen in the distance.

Moreover, there were rocks floating in the sky. They were really floating. I had never seen anything like that before.

There was also a strange smell I had never encountered, mixed with the strong scent of greenery. The forest nearby appeared dense, suggesting plenty of hunting opportunities at any given moment.

And there, looming before us, stood a stone tower.

Covered in moss and withered ivy clinging to its surface, it seemed to be quite old, but it still stood firmly on the ground.

So, this must be the Tower of Bryne…

…And then.

Thud, thud, thud…

Intermittent rumblings reverberated, and the ground truly trembled.

“Ah, it seems lively today too.”

Following Hydra’s gaze, which was directed in an unexpected direction…

“…”

Perhaps unintentionally, Lisse tightly grabbed the hem of my clothes.

And instinctively, I also grabbed her hand in return.

It was that kind of shock.

“W… what’s that…?”

Unable to avert our gaze, Lisse and I froze in place, but Hydra responded nonchalantly, unaffected by our astonishment.

“It appears to be the Holy Wandering Bull, a sacred beast. Well, as you can see, it’s just a giant bull.”

“What—no way!”

“Just a giant bull” is definitely an understatement! How can you say that so casually about that thing!

I’ve seen big monsters like the Obsidian Wolf, the Dragon, and the Dragonfish before, but… I don’t know how to explain it, but those were still within the realm of “acceptable size.”

But that thing.

This creature is on another level.

It’s beyond size.

—It’s like a living mountain.

In appearance, it’s covered in dark brown long fur, boasting impressive horns… Can we even classify it as a bull? It has the shape of a bull, and it looks like a bull, but is it really a bull? Is it okay to call it a bull?

With each slow step the Holy Wandering Bull takes, the ground trembles.

There seems to be a significant distance between us and the bull, but even so, its ponderous footsteps reverberate through the ground.

“I had the same reaction the first time I saw it, but you get used to it quickly. After all, you can see it almost every day from here if you want. Now, let’s move on. If you ever want to see the bull, it’s always there to see.”

…Y-yeah… you’re right.

……

Huh?

“Why are you holding onto me?”

Coming back to my senses,  I promptly shook off Lisse’s hand gripping my clothes. Quickly.

“W-What!? You were holding my hand directly!”

I don’t know. I don’t remember. If I don’t know or remember, then it didn’t happen to me, so it didn’t happen. And if it didn’t happen, there’s no way it happened, and I have no memory of it.

……

Ah, I was surprised. I was really startled. What’s up with that bull?

Hydra opened the wooden door and stepped aside.

“Welcome to the Tower of Bryne.”

That’s our signal to proceed.

Without hesitation, Lisse and I stepped into the Tower of Bryne.

Right inside was a hall.

It appears the ground level serves as a hall.

There are several tables, and about eight people around our age.

All eight of them looked at us at once.

Apart from Chace, there were Cherry and Florentine.

They arrived yesterday and were the first to come.

Following them are the boy with the stern expression, the prince, and the tiger-like beastman.

We encountered them in the hunting competition. They were Lisse’s old friends.

The other two are newcomers.

There’s a gender-neutral child and a timid-looking boy.

Except for Chace and them, it appears that we’re not particularly welcome among the unfamiliar faces.

I feel a sense of wariness from the gazes directed at us.

Well, I understand the inclination of being cautious towards strangers. It’s only natural, I suppose.

“… Where are Shuren, Belge, and Caron?”

Hydra asked, to which the boy with the stern expression responded.

“… Shuren went somewhere. Belge is probably napping somewhere. And Caron is probably hiding away somewhere.”

It appears there are still more members around.

“Oh, I’ll go call the teacher.”

The timid-looking boy starts to get up, but Hydra raises a hand to stop him.

“No need. She’s already here…”

…!

Both Lisse and I were taken aback, but the assassination candidates on the opposite end were equally surprised. Well, the prince, much like Hydra, doesn’t seem surprised.

Indeed, she was already present.

Before we knew it, she was already there.

There was a man clad in leather armor, reinforced at strategic points, and a woman in a neatly dressed attire with her blond hair tied up. The woman is also part of the glasses-wearing group.

Those individuals were certainly not present when we first arrived.

“… You’re late.”

And to add to the astonishment, Sorichika deliberately came out from behind me. Despite there being a door separating the interior and exterior right behind me.
