My Glasses Will Be Able to Conquer the Whole World, I Suppose

Chapter 203 – Glasses Boy Still Feels Inadequate

Thanks to the conclusion of the initiation ceremony, several people found it easy to introduce themselves.

“I’m Belge.”

Said the large man who had just provided commentary during Lisse’s sparring session.

Muscular and towering, Belge’s stature was impressive, with thick muscles running both vertically and horizontally, indicating his strength at a glance.

His deep indigo hair, almost black, was slightly long, with bangs raised by something akin to a headband. His rugged features were complemented by piercing, hawk-like eyes, suggesting a resolute determination and a competitive spirit.

He radiated an aura of a seasoned adventurer, despite technically being in the same age group as us.

His face still retained some traces of youth… or perhaps not. While he seemed youthful, there was a subtle air of maturity beyond his age.

By the way, he apparently lost to Florentine in the strength match during the initiation ceremony.

The fact that he could hold his own against her that’s impressive. She’s just too strong.

“Lisse, spar with me next time. Eil, tell me about that dragon fish sometime.”

Dragon fish, huh?

Hydra asked me about it too, but there’s not much I can say.

Judging from appearances, he seemed confident, energetic, and assertive—definitely not my cup of tea.

Come to think of it, everyone here knows about the hunting competition at Krozheit and how I participated while cross-dressing.

It seems the instructors took that into account for my evaluation, and since there were other participants, word must have spread somehow…

But apart from that, there are likely individuals associated with the Tower of Bryne lurking in the city.

Even Haidiga’s Roda and Zant were blending into the city with their public faces.

I believe there are others like them lurking about. For instance, someone like the director of the orphanage.

But I didn’t notice at all.

Well, it’s probably for the best that I didn’t notice. After all, people involved in assassination are likely highly skilled, much like instructor Yorgo who just showed off his skills.

“I’m Marion. Nice to meet you.”

Said the gender-neutral child, Marion. …You can’t tell their gender even when hearing their voice.

Small and slender, with fair-colored short hair neatly styled.

Their perfectly balanced facial features make them look like a beautiful boy or girl, making it impossible to discern their gender.

Currently, I lean towards a more slender build, so I could pass as either a boy or a girl.

But apparently, they’re female.

“Keep yesterday’s incident under wraps from Haria. She’s too nosy.”

Lisse whispered to me.

As I recently learned, it was indeed said that we shouldn’t get along until the initiation ceremony was over.

But as luck would have it, she happened to be one of the members assigned to cooking duties who joined Cherry and the others for yesterday’s shopping trip.

I can easily picture the scene and the camaraderie they shared.

Surely they enjoyed themselves, laughing and chatting.

So she must have an outgoing personality and not be shy around people. Hmm, maybe just not my type.

“I’m Trawllul, the cat beastman. Just call me Ulul.”

She said with a cheerful tone.

Ah, the tiger beastman is Traw… what? Cat? Did she say cat beastman?

That’s quite surprising. It’s so unexpected that I’m still struggling to understand her name.

Wasn’t she supposed to be a tiger?

…No, wait. That’s right. That makes sense.

I had heard that tiger beastmen were large, but she really is small.

A cat beastman, huh?

A cat, huh…

……

Yeah.

I like cats and wanted to have one in the future, but cat beastmen are a different matter.

They possess cat-like traits, but they’re not actually cats.

I think it’s different because I like cats, but without other elements mixed in.

For example, just because I like certain foods doesn’t mean mixing them all together will taste good.

If anything, it’s more acceptable when the beastly aspects are more pronounced.

In that sense, I’d prefer meeting Asan, the desert leopard Sandwalk I met in the assassin’s village. Absolutely. I’d love to see it again right away.

“Hey, hey. What happened to the bird from yesterday?”

Moreover, it seems this cat beastman has a friendly personality. It’s awkward how her partly cat-like nature makes her stand out even more… I’ll probably end up thinking, “It would be perfect if she were a real cat,” every time I see her.

… So, only three people showed up this morning.

Lisse’s former acquaintances, including the stern-looking boy, were absent, but I imagine I’ll eventually put names to faces.

Following instructor Yorgo’s instructions, we moved to the third floor of the tower. The floor with the infamous blackboard.

“Feel free to sit wherever you like.”

Said Professor Evanesque, standing at the front. Instructors Yorgo and Sori… Sorichika stood in the corner of the room.

As we all settled into our seats at random, Professor Evanesque commenced.

“Today marks the beginning of our rigorous studies here at the Tower of Bryne.”

Yesterday, with Lisse and me arriving, all the candidates aiming for the Tower of Bryne had gathered.

Of course, those who arrived earlier weren’t just idling around waiting for everyone else. They apparently engaged in self-directed training while waiting.

Honestly, if our late arrival caused any loss of study time, then we owe an apology. But it seems there’s no need to worry about that.

“From here on, you will each choose one of two paths for yourselves.

… Whether to choose the path of an assassin or another path.

Depending on your choice, our approach and the tasks assigned to each of you will vary. However, unless tasks coincide, it’s acceptable to pursue both paths simultaneously.

Neither option will be without challenges, but if you’ve earned the right to be here, then continuing won’t be too difficult.

Starting tomorrow, classrooms will be divided according to the chosen direction, but training and tasks will be conducted jointly for a while.”

I see.

So, I’ll choose the “other path.”

The explanations continue afterward, mostly about what lies ahead.

From what I hear, there’s nothing to worry about for now.

… Except for one aspect: “training and tasks.”

Mornings will be dedicated to theoretical study, while afternoons will consist of training and tasks. These activities will likely differ based on the chosen path.

The issue is that many of these training and tasks will be “conducted jointly.”

In other words, it seems there will be a lot of cooperation and perhaps competition among the candidates. I recall hearing something similar in Haidiga.

Setting competition aside, cooperation feels burdensome.

Considering we’re all here, I believe everyone has a certain level of combat ability. Perhaps, in terms of fighting capability, I’m actually the weakest among us.

Having others nearby will undoubtedly make it more challenging for me to utilize My Glasses.

Naturally, using our Gifts will also become more difficult.

In such a scenario, I could simply choose not to use it.

But what if the training or tasks cannot be completed without it?

What if it’s a situation that could potentially be life-threatening?

In that moment, I’ll be left with no alternative but to use My Glasses without hesitation.

…Well, naturally, it will become evident then.

It’s common knowledge and an implicit rule not to casually inquire about others’ Gifts, yet Lisse directly asked about it despite knowing that. I couldn’t simply ignore it.

That’s the issue with Glasses. They’re unique.

…In this case, I should probably reconsider the “talents” to be used in joint training and tasks.

Which talents can be openly utilized and which should be kept discreet.

Of course, there will be methods to employ them. Perhaps I should explore ways to utilize them without drawing attention.

“…That concludes today’s classroom session. Following lunch and a break, gather on the first floor for afternoon training.”

Additionally, it appears that training is starting today already. I’m curious about what activities are planned for us.
