My Glasses Will Be Able to Conquer the Whole World, I Suppose

Chapter 212 – Glasses Boy’s Unintended Information Gathering

“How was it over there?”

With the classroom sessions concluded, it was now lunchtime.

Though it’s unclear who initiated the conversation, those who had split paths began exchanging information.

A large group gathered around one table, engrossed in conversation.

Though I’m curious too, I don’t think there’s much difference yet. So, I don’t really need to ask right now.

That’s why I’m having lunch alone.

It’s nice eating alone like this. It’s calming.

But still, this is incredibly delicious.

What is this? This isn’t the deer meat I know.

“Delicious!”

“Absolutely! This is amazing!”

Continuing from yesterday, Trawllul and Florentine are still raving. I get it. It’s so good you want to shout. It’s heartwarming to see them stationed at a table near the kitchen, where you can easily go for seconds. Enjoy your meal. I’ll have some too.

Last night, it was a very simple deer steak. It had Belge’s unique blend of spices, which was different and incredibly delicious. It had a bit of a kick to it.

And although it wasn’t there this morning, it seems they prepared something since early morning, and now our meal includes deer meat stew.

This is delicious.

The chunks of deer meat are tasty, and the depth of flavor in the stew, along with the sweetness of the vegetables, is superb.

So, this is Belge’s skill.

So this is the work of a chef.

Even my “easy dishes that even amateurs can make” pale in comparison to this.

If only I could make this taste while camping out.

I guess I’ll have to ask for lessons on spices after all.

By the way, the dispute between Belge and Hydra seems to have settled with them agreeing to prepare only one dish.

Despite all the fuss, Hydra, like me, is dining alone and seems quite satisfied eating the stew now.

It’s almost as if he has forgotten the conflict entirely.

Or perhaps as if it never happened.

Belge was so adamant about wanting to cook, making such a scary face while arguing. It’s surprising that they’re eating now. It seems they might find it difficult to swallow their pride.

It’s a little scary how easily they can just let go of things like that.

Come to think of it, they had a steak just as firmly last night.

Oops, that was close. Our eyes met. Hydra’s expression is quite intimidating. I should keep my distance from now on.

“Hello.”

…Just as I was thinking of keeping my distance, she came over to my table…?

Hydra approached my table, carrying a tray loaded with stew, salad, and bread for lunch.

Well, now she sat down beside me.

“Oh, I’ll be done soon.”

“You can take your time, you know?”

“Well, I don’t want to intrude on your alone time.”

“You meant you don’t want your alone time to be disturbed, huh?”

She teases me with a smile.

…I always thought Hydra was strong, but after seeing what happened yesterday, I’m now somewhat hesitant in the face of her strength, which exceeds my expectations.

Of course, that’s just how I feel right now.

“I was planning to make time to talk anyway. I wanted to hear your opinion.”

…Huh?

“From what I’ve overheard, it seems like there’s not much difference between the Assassin Course and your course.

You’ve also received explanations about the Seven Secret Techniques, right?”

Yeah, well… The Assassin Course, too, huh?

“Which technique are you planning to master?”

“I’m not sure yet.”

I want to learn the Walking, Running,  Swift Movement, and Stealth Techniques.

If possible, I can’t easily discard the remaining Reconnaissance, Long-distance travel, and Forbidden Techniques either.

So without even needing to think about it—As much as possible. That’s my answer.

“As for me—”

Hydra interrupts, spooning into the stew.

“I plan to master them all.”

“Hydra, you’re quite ambitious, aren’t you?”

“Hehe, I suppose so. Quite greedy, I’d say. But—I thought you might have the same intention of mastering them all?”

“I don’t intend to risk my life to master them.”

“I see. I was confident in my intuition, but it seems I was mistaken.”

Intuition, huh?

Must be women’s intuition. That’s hitting the mark.

I don’t intend to risk my life to master them, but I want to do my best to master them within my capabilities. I’m not lying.

…Surely, Hydra probably thought the same thing.

That if they missed this opportunity, they might not be able to master it.

“But still, Eil, you’re more inclined toward that, huh?”

“Toward that?”

What? Is this about the courses?

“Because the more I know, the more you seem like an assassin. You.”

…Ah, I see. I’ve heard those words somewhere before.

I didn’t intend to, but somehow, it seems like our wavelengths align, after all.

Before I knew it, I was having various conversations with Hydra.

Of course, I was planning to escape at any opportunity, but there wasn’t much of an opportunity…

“It seems like the four teams have gathered.”

First, Hydra, Geodine, and Shuren.

These three were gathered through scouting, just like us.

They met in an assassin’s village different from the village we came from, but apparently, they only lived together for a short period.

So they’re not very familiar with each other.

Eorazel, Harriatan, and Caro-something.

They’re elites from an orphanage that trains assassins, and originally, Lisse was supposed to be in their group.

Belge, Trawllul, and Marion’s group.

They’ve only just met here, so even Hydra doesn’t really know them well. Well, everyone knows that Belge aspires to be a chef, though.

And then there’s me, Chace, Cherry, Florentine, and Lisse.

So, the four teams have gathered, making up the fourteen of us here.

“Where did Hydra and the others come from?”

“I won’t say that, it might get us into trouble with confidentiality. For both our sakes. You don’t really need to know, right?”

…I see, that makes sense.

They probably came from somewhere in the Nastiara Kingdom.

But maybe they were scouted from a neighboring country. There might have been some kind of talent recruitment thing going on.

Yeah, regardless of the truth, it seems like information I don’t need to know.

“But I’m curious about Florentine’s accent. Where is she from? I’ve never heard such a strong accent before.”

I’m curious about that too.

…But, you know, it’s, uh…

“It’s hard to ask, isn’t it?”

“Yeah. It’s not easy to ask her directly.”

Right. Especially since she’s all about “Don” and “Family.” Some things are better left unknown in this world.

Lunch and the break, mainly focused on delicious food and exchanging information, are over, and it’s training again this afternoon.

I think instructor Evanesque said we’ll be doing the same thing as yesterday…

As we gather in front of the tower, Instructor Evanesque starts explaining.

“We’ll be doing the signal flare retrieval training again today—but.”

“…But?”

“…Since we’ve divided into courses, the Assassin Course team and the others…tentatively, let’s call them the Monster Hunting team.

Today’s training will be a competition between the Assassin team and the Monster Hunting team.”

…A competition?
