My Glasses Will Be Able to Conquer the Whole World, I Suppose

Chapter 227 – Glasses Boy Looks Forward to the Next Assignment

Life at the Tower of Bryne had begun, and some time had passed.

In Nastiara Kingdom and Krozheit, it should be winter by now.

However, around the Tower of Bryne, the temperature still feels like early autumn.

It seems like the cycle of seasons is slightly off.

Thanks to the teleportation magic circles, the travel is instantaneous, but in reality, there may be a considerable distance between that area and here.

However, according to the instructors, even though there’s a discrepancy, winter is indeed coming.

So, in between lectures, assignments, and self-training, the assassin candidates were preparing for the upcoming winter.

“—And that concludes today’s lecture.”

Once again, we’ve wrapped up the enlightening lecture from Instructor Evanesque.

The three instructors take turns almost every day, teaching us many interesting and highly informative topics. It’s all very beneficial.

The teams that were clearly distinguished from the recent mock battle are still ongoing.

Our team, the monster hunting team — me, Lisse, Chace, Florentine, Belge, Trawllul, Harriatan, and Geodine.

In the neighboring classroom, the assassin team also attends lectures daily.

By the way, the members are Hydra, Cherry, Shuren, Caron, Marion, and Eorazel.

Except for the temporary transfer of Lisse during the mock battle for retrieving the smoke signals, the members haven’t changed since then.

However, occasionally, members from one side come to the other, or vice versa, to attend lectures.

Since the topics of discussion tend to differ between the two groups, we’re allowed to participate in lectures that interest us from either side.

In the first place, instructors sometimes recommend topics like this, “Next, we’ll talk about this, but you’re interested in it, right?”

I’ve been recommended a few times too. Well, I didn’t go, though.

As you can guess, I’m really interested, but I’m not into assassin stuff.

As the candidates relaxed after being told it’s over, Instructor Evanesque stated.

“Tomorrow, I’ll give you an assignment. Those with other commitments, make sure to take care of them.”

Oh, so there’s going to be an assignment.

Lectures are enjoyable, but assignments are fun too.

“What should we do next?”

When Instructor Evanesque left the classroom, Lisse asked us that question.

It’s obvious what she meant — about the assignment.

Lisse is indeed the leader type.

After completing several assignments, she naturally assumed that position. We all agreed on it. Well, it’s only right.

And the question was about who would lead the next assignment.

So far, all the assignments have been tackled by the whole team.

Perhaps eventually, we’ll divide tasks individually or in pairs or trios.

The leader will be responsible for planning strategies and commanding on-site during the assignment.

Personally, I’d prefer it if it’s always Lisse, or maybe Geodine, who acts as everyone’s assistant like a vice-leader.

However, since it’s an assignment, we try to rotate roles among everyone as much as possible.

“I guess it’s my turn soon, huh?”

Harriatan promptly spoke up, but no one agreed with him. It seemed like everyone decided not to go along smoothly. Me? Of course, I didn’t hear anything either.

“Yes, I think either Lisse or Geo would be good.”

Trawllul, the cat beastman who always seems to be smiling, raised his hand.

“I agree. I think that’s a good idea too.”

“No, doing it with the same lineup all the time won’t yield much. How about you, Ulul? Want to give it a try?”

“Nah.”

At Geo’s suggestion, Trawllul turned his face away with a pout, refusing. Cute. It would be perfect if he were a full cat.

“Hey, don’t you want to hear my opinion?”

Yeah, I’m not listening to Harriatan.

“I did it in the last assignment.”

Yeah, that’s right. Belge was the leader in the last assignment.

“So, it’s my turn next, right?”

Yeah, that’s right. It’s not Harriatan’s turn next.

“I’ll pass. I’ve got enough on my plate with my own stuff. And I’m sure the Taboo Child doesn’t want to do it either, right?”

“Yeah, leave the thinking to me. We’re not here to be used by them.”

Chace and Florentine also showed no enthusiasm.

“Well then—”

Everyone looked at me. They were looking at me. Wait, hold on.

“I’m not cut out to be a leader.”

“Yeah, you’re right.”

“Yeah, that’s right.”

“Exactly.”

“Well then.”

“Tch.”

“Yeah, that’s right.”

Oh, I see. It seems like everyone already knows. That’s reassuring.

“Unlike me, you can do it, so just do it. You’ll get a zero if you don’t.”

In Harriatan’s mind, I’ve completely settled as a zero. Quite a wishful thinking.

“Did you realize that you couldn’t do it?”

We’re not exactly close on the surface, but after working on assignments together, there’s a part of me that has inevitably warmed up to him.

It’s like, beyond our names, we’ve settled into a relationship where things aren’t as tense as they seem on the surface.

“Well… I want to do it, but I don’t think it suits my nature.”

I see. Harriatan is surprisingly self-aware.

“So, it’s business as usual this time too.”

With that, Lisse concluded the discussion.

“We’ll decide after the assignment is announced.”

She added.

Now then.

I wonder which monster we’ll target for the next assignment.

I’m really looking forward to it.
