My Glasses Will Be Able to Conquer the Whole World, I Suppose

Chapter 235 – Glasses Boy Turns Down Hydra’s Invitation

I’ve really gotten used to it.

The sight of a mountain-sized cow walking under the sky dyed by the setting sun.

The tremors that suddenly reverberate through the ground, and the intense presence of these giant creatures that occasionally enter my field of vision—I’ve completely gotten used to them by now.

The Holy Wandering Bull.

At first, it was terrifying enough to freeze my body in fear, but now, it might actually feel more unnatural if that sight were absent.

After all, I see it every day.

What is it, really?

I was surprised that such a massive creature exists, but why does it keep walking continuously?

According to the instructor, based on the remaining documents, it seems that this bull has been walking like this for at least several hundred years.

The path it follows is fixed, and the ground has been thoroughly trampled flat.

It’s said that the path crosses through forests and rivers, but by now, it’s assumed that the bull will pass through.

Maybe I should observe it closely—no, I should stop. I don’t have a hobby of deliberately approaching dangerous things.

…It’s way beyond the scale of just being a “big creature”. It doesn’t seem like something humans should be involved with.

“—What’s up with the bull?”

As I absentmindedly watched the Holy Wandering Bull, a voice called out from behind. This voice is Hydra’s.

“Are you out shopping too?”

Coming from behind means she came from the direction of the teleportation magic circle leading to Krozheit.

This place is right in front of the tower, near the entrance to the teleportation magic circle.

Our monster hunting team hunted in the morning and joined up with Geodine and the others in the afternoon.

We had lunch and then went out for shopping as planned.

Considering that Belge is in charge of cooking today, we split up to do the shopping more quickly, and I’ve just returned now.

“Yeah. Preparing for the assignment.”

Hydra, dressed in her sister’s attire and carrying a similar load of shopping, walks up beside me.

The last time we both looked at the bull was when we came to the Tower of Bryne.

Back then, Lisse was with us too, but now it’s just the two of us.

Well, it’s just that we happened to be returning at the same time.

“It’s mysterious, isn’t it? It doesn’t feel like just an ordinary creature.”

I agree.

“What do you think it is?”

“Who knows. If I had to guess, it feels more like a monster. Either way, it’s definitely not just a regular animal.”

A monster, huh?

Indeed, it seems more likely to be a monster than just an ordinary creature.

—If that giant thing ever decided to attack humans, we’d probably be doomed. Whether it’s a monster or not, the fact that it doesn’t attack living beings is a relief.

“Have you decided on the plan?”

Oops. The topic changed. Back to the assignment.

It seems Hydra is done with talking about the bull.

I wanted to watch it a little longer… but, well, I’m not exactly free either, so I guess I’ll wrap it up.

“For the most part. We might make some adjustments after seeing the zombie legion.”

“It’s the same on our side.”

I see. I’m looking forward to the assassin team’s plan.

I’ll only get to hear the details once the assignment is over, so for now, I can only let my anticipation build.

—Since life at the tower began, I’ve been through several training sessions, but I don’t think my relationship with Hydra has changed much.

If anything, she occasionally asks for my opinion when necessary, and I sometimes ask her questions. Maybe we’d be closer if we were on the same team.

“—Welcome back.”

Ah, it’s Shuren.

Another person returned from the direction of the magic circle behind Hydra. It’s Shuren, with his rare black hair and black eyes. Since he’s carrying bags, he must have been part of the shopping group too.

“……”

Shuren gave Hydra a slight nod as a greeting and then walked off quickly.

……

“Have you ever talked to him?”

She asked, but I was just thinking the same thing.

“No, actually, not even once.”

I was just thinking about how I’ve never spoken with Shuren.

In fact, I’ve never even heard his voice.

I mean, we don’t really have any points of contact.

If there was anything, it would have been towards the end of the last competition.

“What? Are you on bad terms? That’s not the case, right?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

It’s probably because we’re similar in some way.

We probably don’t have any friction because we’re both the type who prefer not to get too involved with others.

There’s really no reason for us to talk.

If something came up, I’d ask someone like Hydra to relay the message. He’d probably do the same through someone else.

Well, it’s not like everyone has to be friends.

I think this is fine as it is.

The main focus, after all, is on training, practice, and assignments.

“—Oh, by the way, I’m glad I caught you.”

Just as I was about to suggest we head back to the tower, Hydra spoke up.

“After the next assignment is done, could you give me a few days of Eil’s time?”

…Huh? What?

“A few days? Like several days?”

What kind of timeframe is that?

I could understand if it were for half a day, or maybe a whole day, but several days?

“Yes, several days.”

……

“Sorry, but that’s not possible.”

I didn’t even ask what it was for, but regardless of the reason, several days are out of the question.

I have training.

The time I have left here is less than six months. I can’t afford to waste even a single day.

Honestly, I was a little annoyed even about being tied up this morning.

I got so frustrated that I ended up saying something stupid like “pay up.”

I kind of regret that.

Not that I regret it.

I just really felt like I had to say it to them at least once.

“I see. Yes, of course.”

Hydra nodded two or three times, as if agreeing it made sense.

“I asked a few people, but not a single one agreed.”

…Actually, though.

“Don’t you want to train as well?”

I always thought Hydra was the one who cared the most about not wasting a single day.

That’s why she’s so strict about rules and regulations.

If someone slacks off on their cooking duties or does a sloppy job, she’ll call them out, no matter who they are.

And if she thinks more help is needed, she’s the first to step up.

That’s why I believe she values her time here the most.

Because of that, both the assassin team and the monster hunting team trust her deeply.

I trust Hydra too, and if she asked me to help with something, I’d probably do it without question, believing it to be necessary.

But still, something that takes several days? That’s too much.

I just can’t commit to that.

“There’s a bit of a troublesome matter. It seems like it’s something I should handle personally. Actually—”

“Wait. If you tell me, I won’t be able to refuse, right?”

“………”

………

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Wow, what a perfect smile… I hit the nail on the head, didn’t I?

“Shall we head back to the tower?”

“Oh? Can’t we take it easy for a little while longer?”

Absolutely not.
