My Glasses Will Be Able to Conquer the Whole World, I Suppose

Chapter 229 – Glasses Boy Enjoys a Secret Pleasure

“Hey!”

Belge, who had promised to go fishing, arrived, so today’s training is over.

“Phew… threw a lot today.”

Florentine rotates her right shoulder in circles. She seems thoroughly tired from throwing.

You have to tire yourself out for it to count as training.

I’m tired too.

Since leaving Albat Village for the capital, I haven’t had many opportunities to draw my bow until coming to the Tower of Bryne. But here, it’s almost every day.

It’s not just the number of shots that tires me out, but the concentration required for each shot.

Aiming and shooting with precision, concentrating from spotting the prey to releasing the arrow quickly, as prey often flees in hunting.

Hunting in the sea is a bit different, providing a good challenge.

I feel like I improve more by honing my senses while holding the bow.

Although I can train my senses to detect prey without relying on sight during normal times, the level of concentration required is different when I’m actively engaged.

“Oh, six black bass. That’s quite a catch.”

We’ve caught various things, but black bass is still the best catch. Not only is it tasty, but it also has good size.

“Trawllul will be delighted.”

Yeah, that cat-beastman loves fish.

“But seriously, how can you catch them blindfolded? …Can you see?”

I can’t see, but I can tell that Belge is waving his hand in front of my face.

“You’re probably seeing, right? Hm? Hm?”

I can’t see it, but I can tell that Florentine is giving a slightly irritated smirk as he peeks down at my face from below.

“Busted. I can actually see,” I replied, feeling bothered by being doubted so many times. I answered that way just to save myself the trouble; I don’t really care if they believe me or not.

“There’s no way that’s true. Why would I bother with such pointless training?”

Belge retorted.

“Yeah, yeah, I know.”

I replied.

“What about Florentine?”

My comment was meant as a greeting and a joke, but Belge’s attention shifted to Florentine.

“I hit a few shots, but as soon as the stone hits, the fish scatter, and then other fish eat them.”

Florentine replied.

It seems like Florentine still hasn’t quite mastered controlling his strength. It’s like this every day.

I want to tell him to stop causing unnecessary harm, but since the fish become food for others, it’s not really wasteful, is it?

It seems like Instructor Yorgo managed to knock them out by hitting them on the head, but Florentine’s ideal outcome probably ends up around there too.

“Well, anyway, it’s good that we got food again today. The director and Instructor Yorgo will be happy.”

I remarked.

That’s right. Those two love fish.

The fish we catch mainly serve as our food.

With over ten people in our large group, even catching this much every day doesn’t leave much surplus.

Any excess is dried for storage or used as food for the orphanage.

Winter is approaching soon.

It becomes difficult to gather food in the cold, so stocking up is progressing smoothly. The fish caught through fishing will also contribute to our stockpile.

By the way, Florentine, who is an avid meat lover, isn’t too thrilled about fish because they have bones. Even if there’s a great catch of delicious fish, his excitement doesn’t rise much.

My sister used to say she didn’t like fish for the same reason.

“Are we going fishing today? Can we bring back fish?”

Florentine asked.

Belge and I are going fishing now.

Belge often invites others to gather seafood from the sea, not just for fishing, so Florentine is used to it.

Since the bucket with the fish is filled with seawater, it’s very heavy to carry. But Belge said it’s better to carry it as it is to maintain freshness.

While graciously accepting Florentine’s offer, I removed the bowstring, untied the rope from the arrow, checked the bow for any abnormalities in its flexibility or texture, and packed away our gear.

Watching me, the two of them muttered.

“…How can you move around so efficiently blindfolded?”

“…You shouldn’t be able to see, right?”

I can’t see, you know.

By the way, Geodine and Eorazel, who arrived after Belge, also seem to enjoy fishing quite a bit.

Unfortunately, the catch wasn’t very impressive, but fishing is still enjoyable.

Or maybe it’s just the sea that’s good.

Just listening to the sound of the waves is very calming.

“And fish tastes delicious too.”

This is the secret pleasure of fishing with only men or searching for food on the beach.

Today, we only caught enough for everyone, but it’s just enough to satisfy our appetites before dinner.

We wash and gut the fish, then grill them on the spot. They taste amazing, especially with the dripping fish oil. And hot!

Unlike many freshwater fish that can be muddy, you can eat many sea fish right there.

I’ve heard that in the East, there’s a culture of eating fresh fish raw. It’s intriguing, but I’m not quite brave enough to try it.

“Looks like there will be another assignment.”

The sun is setting.

The horizon is turning red, and it’s already night overhead.

Gathered around the warm fire, enjoying grilled fish, Geodine remarked.

Come to think of it, in this group, is Eorazel the only one on the assassin team?

But so far, there doesn’t seem to be much difference between the monster hunting team and the assassin team in terms of assignments.

Though they’re divided into two teams, it doesn’t feel like much of a competition because of the difference in the number of participants. Not for us, nor for the instructors.

“Would be nice if we could eat the monsters, but I wonder what’s next.”

Belge is probably recalling the monsters we hunted for the assignment.

We hunted four creatures, but only one of them was edible.

If we’re going to hunt, might as well make it food, I think.

Hmm… Next assignment will be the fifth, right?

Assignments come about once a week, and we spend a few days completing them.

Well, that’s how it’s been until now, at least.

But it wouldn’t be surprising if a different pattern emerges soon.

“We’ve fought Hell Butterflies, Mad Elder Trees, Sky Lizards, and Venomous Centipedes. None of them were easy prey.”

Seems like it was the same assignment as the assassin team after all.

I only caught a glimpse of it from Cherry, but if Eorazel says so, it’s probably accurate.

By the way, when they mention Sky Lizards, they’re referring to the ones we know.

Under strict confidentiality from Instructor Sorichika, the assignment was given to all of us.

I thought about it a bit, but those lizards were quite difficult to hunt, it seems.

With the confidentiality, I couldn’t suggest anything except for my glasses, so we had to come up with other ways to hunt them.

But despite brainstorming various methods, none seemed particularly effective.

In the end, we managed to find them by luring them with bait, taking advantage of their nocturnal nature… but it wasn’t ideal.

If they hadn’t been lured by bait, we wouldn’t have been able to hunt them.

Completing the assignment felt more like luck than skill, at least from my perspective.

Well, that’s just how it feels to me, anyway.

“I wonder what’s next.”

Yeah, I have no idea. Can’t even begin to guess.

The next day, Instructor Evanesque announced the next assignment.

“The next assignment will be to defeat a Zombie Legion.”

Next up is a Zombie Legion.

…Never heard of that before. A legion of zombies?
